“Big Brother” cam at Zion National Park.  I was in the second car of a tram, and a voice said, “Please don’t stand near the doors while the vehicle is in motion.”  Then it said, “The lady in the red shirt, please step away from the door.”  I thought it was automated the first time!  It was the driver in first car; I, of course, had to get a photo of it for class.

6/9  Just a couple of things to keep in mind:

-We’ll talk about the rest of We on Friday after presentations, but you still need to check in and give me your SRs today.  Then your group can go do whatever you need to do to prepare.

-Remember to check your tech early, even with the projector, since sometimes it looks different on the screen than on the computer (light differences, font size too small for the class, etc.)

-If you are having difficulty getting the link for the Rogerian Argument webpage (or other pages for future reference) to work, it is almost always the browser you are using.  I don’t know why this happens, but try a different browser or see me if that proves an issue for you.

Welcome to “Writing About ‘Big Brother’”.  No, this class is not based on the reality TV show, although we will talk about that briefly.  This class is based on George Orwell’s character, Big Brother, from his novel 1984. We will also look at other iterations of Big Brother in literature and in the real world.  How much government control is too much?  That’s what you have to decide!

This website has everything you need to know about this class plus extra information and helps for your success.  We only have five weeks; let’s do this thing!

THIS IS NOT AN ONLINE CLASS… YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PASS IF YOU DON’T DO CLASSWORK. THE ONLINE FORMAT IS JUST FOR YOUR BENEFIT.
